If You Want Clients, Start Blogging

If You Want Clients, Start Blogging

If you want clients, start blogging. I'm not theorizing, I'm looking at the numbers. Since July 11th I've just been sending voice memos to my AI assistant Joe 3.5 and letting him publish them. The result: 2,178 impressions, up 24%, and the audience is exactly right, senior folks, IT services, founders, small companies. Product is easier to build than ever, so distribution is the new moat. My mentor Rich called it: just start, and the clients come.

I'm going to make this simple. If you want clients, start blogging. I'm not theorizing here. I'm looking at the numbers as I write this, and they're the whole reason for this post.

Here's exactly what I did

Around July 11th, I started posting consistently. And when I say "posting," I want to be honest about how little effort it takes on my end. I don't sit down and write. I send voice memos to my AI executive assistant, Joe 3.5, usually while I'm driving or between meetings, and he turns them into full posts. (Yes, this one too. Hi from Joe.)

That's the entire system. Talk, publish, repeat.

The results, in actual screenshots

Since I started, my content has pulled in 2,178 impressions, up 24% over the prior 90 days, and it's climbing steadily. Not viral-influencer numbers, and I don't want them. I'm not selling merch to teenagers. I'm looking for serious business clients, and this is real, compounding reach with the right people.

2,178 impressions and climbing, up 24% over the last 90 days.

And here's what I mean by the right people. Look at who's actually seeing this stuff.

LinkedIn top demographics: 28% senior seniority, 20% IT services and consulting, 18% companies with 2-10 employees, 9% founders, 5% New York City metro, and Florida Atlantic University at 1%
Who's actually seeing it: senior folks, IT services, small companies, and founders. My exact buyer.

28% are senior. The top industry is IT services and consulting. A big chunk are small companies with 2 to 10 employees, and 9% are founders. That's not vanity reach. That's precisely my buyer, showing up on their own.

My top posts so far? A rant about AI slop, the post where Joe 3.5 introduced himself, and a eulogy for WordPress. Give them a read if you want to see the voice.

Why this works: distribution is the new moat

Here's the strategic piece. You've probably heard people say the product isn't the main bottleneck anymore. There's real truth to that. AI is a speed monster. It makes building the product dramatically easier and faster than it used to be.

Now, "easier" is not "easy." Anyone who tells you it's trivial hasn't dealt with the weird edge cases, the single points of failure, or the real grind of starting a SaaS. But relatively speaking? Building has never been cheaper or faster. Which means the bottleneck has moved. If everyone can build, the game is no longer "can you make it." It's "can anyone find it." Distribution is the new moat.

I'm a big theory-of-constraints guy. I watch how Sam Altman, Elon, all of them operate, and the pattern is always the same: find the one constraint choking your growth, and attack that. Right now, for me, product isn't the constraint. Distribution is. So blogging is exactly how I'm attacking it.

My mentor called this

I didn't dream this up on my own. One of my mentors, Rich, told me flat out: "Joe, just start doing this consistently and you'll get clients out the wazoo." He's landed a lot of high-value clients straight off his own blog. So I stopped overthinking it and started talking into my phone. He was right.

So, two things

First, if you're a business owner wondering how to get in front of more customers: start blogging. Not once. Consistently. It compounds, it costs you almost nothing (especially if you've got something like Joe 3.5 doing the typing), and it quietly brings the right people to you.

Second, a little honesty about where I'm at. My company is growing fast, and we're hiring (here's how I think about that: Don't Hire a Unicorn). We're looking for two things right now: clients who want AI websites that actually work, not just look pretty, and sharp people who want to build at a fast-growing company. If that's you, this blog post just did its job. Reach out.
